Yeah, I had the same hacked site issue earlier this year. If it weren't for this one client who was reluctant to move because of cost, I would have been completely off the host.

<a href="http://www.xlhost.com/" rel="nofollow">xlhost</a> looks interesting from a cost to value standpoint, but I'm not interested in managing my own server from the operating system up at the moment. (Tim, you were always better at that than I.)

Going forward, I'm looking to resell Media Temple's grid service or something comparable for any small to medium sized sites. I'm all about the dedicated virtual server for anything larger—who *needs* a whole server for anything short of enterprise data management?

I ditched them a few months ago when their FTP was compromised and they had to resort to white-listing by IP to let people in, and even then it was only for 5 minutes. Then their account database was hacked and some of my sites were defaced.

I have a couple dedicated boxes for various projects from xlhost.com now and they're great :)

I have barely used Flock. It is just a little too cluttered. Also, I went back to FireFox 2 until FireFox 3 can become reliable enough to no longer break CSS randomly.

@Gordo

Why not? I use the Del.icio.us "post links" tool to generate a post full of links that interest me and get them out on my site much quicker than if I left it to myself to publish the lists manually. It is easier than writing an aside or creating a blogroll link for every interesting tidbit I come across.

I'm using Trillian Astra as a tester and it's very cool!

I just wrote about the new release <a href="http://www.gordosweblog.de/2007/10/27/trillian-astra-build-60-profile-editor-msn-reloaded/" rel="nofollow">Trillian Astra Build 60 - Profile-Editor & MSN Reloaded</a>

Besides, why are you publishing your links via Blog-Entries?

NOTE: I did not suddenly turn into a string of consciousness writer. For some reason—unknown to me at this time—Safari decided tell TinyMCE to strip all my paragraphs when I posted this message. It is now posted as I originally intended—with a lot more breaks.

I feel like a total slacker in comparison - I just went to two different grocery stores, ferried kids hither and yon, updated three sites, muxed around with MX records, and built my kid a blog.

But I *didn't* dig into the side of my house...
